Inca Jungle, a different route to Machu Picchu!

Inca Jungle, a different route to Machu Picchu!

For the lovers of the walk and the hiking to cover the Inca Trail is one of its main targets; but regrettably the earnings to this way are some faces and they become exhausted with many months of anticipation, which makes difficult to achieve to covering this famous way. Nevertheless if you remained without entry or you do not count with the sufficient money that other more economic alternatives exist and with major availability such like the way of Salkantay, Inca trail of 2 days or the Inca Jungle.

The last one is undoubtedly one of the best, since it gives you the option to realize such activities of adventure as cycling, boating, zipline and hiking during the trip towards Machu Picchu.

We had our trip to Cusco planned along with 4 friends for October and we decide to organize it in advance with the target to know one of 7 marvels of the world, Machu Picchu, and to be able to take that famous picture of postcard that so many times we saw.

The idea was to cover the Inca Trail since we love the hiking and we have read and I dress several videos on the marvels that this route offers; but regrettably we were looking for options of agencies that offer it for October without luck since the spaces had already become exhausted three months ago.

Really then we come across with Pirwa Hostels that is a chain of Hostels of who either we receive recommendations of a few colombian friends that either they had traveled and had stayed at one of its Hostels in Cusco. It turns out that the chain Pirwa also is provided with a travel agency where they were not provided with availability for the Inca Way either but they gave us other alternatives between which this one attracted attention of us: https://www.pirwatravel.com/en/travel/machu-picchu-2/inca-jungle-machu-picchu-19.html

At first we were not sure much since our sleep was to cover the Inca Way but also we wanted to know Cusco and Machu Picchu so placing everything in a scales we decide on this route and to hire it with this company for the good comments and recommendations of our friends.

The dealing was simple and we pay a part in advance, they know already they need to buy the earnings and reserve the services in advance for which they need an advance.

One day before the date of our tour and already in Cusco stayed at its Hostel at the Square San Francisco (that is close to everything, which facilitated our demurrage to us in addition to the good ambience that feels) there visited to us a representative of the agency, who explained all the details of the tour to us and gave us some advices very nicely.

This night we rest something early since on the following day we would go out in the morning. They gathered us from the Hostel to 05:45 am and we rise to one they go tourist very clean in which we begin covering the city since it had to gather the rest of persons who would realize the tour with us.

We travel about 2 hour and a half round the Sacred Valley a route that we follow days earlier with a tour that we hire in the same reception of the Hostel (really it is worth while). After passing for Ollantaytambo we climbed up to a step of the mountain called “Malaga“ where from we initiate the cycling in descent up to the tropical forest, the scenery and the sight that you have of the whole Vale and of the mountains in undoubtedly one of better that I have seen.

After 3 hours of descent we come up to a people where an archaeological center was or what stayed of after the Spanish conquest. There we did a stop to be able to rest and our guide told us some facts happened in this sector.

We continue in one that they go up to Santa Maria that is already a people in the tropical forest for the large number of fruit-bearing trees that we could see. Here they gave us the option to realize rafting for an additional cost, we move up to the sector where the boats were and the guide gave us a small chat of the route that we would take. Already in the boat we enjoy this activity with level rapids II up to V. We return to the hostel in Santa Maria where we have dinner and sleep.

In our second day Inca was quite a walk on the part of some ancient ways up to coming to Santa Teresa, the route is really beautiful own of the forest. Once we come to Santa Teresa we went to relax in the thermal waters that are super fence and you can come taking a mobility in the square of the people for 5. 00 soles.

The revenue went out to the thermal waters for us to 10. 00 soles the suns for person and it counts with 3 large puddles of medicinal waters that exist to say of the settlers that they were very good for the bones and other illnesses.

The third day we cheer up for realizing Zipline or “cola de mono” since they call it, very close to the people they have its facilities with 4 amazing stretches being the longest 800 m that. very advisable for the persons who suffer from dizziness.

Finished this there took us up to Hydroelectric in car where the rest of the group was already those who did not cheer up the zipline and walked up to Hydroelectric . From there we walked for approximately 2 hours along a way to the side of the rail of the train, we had the option to tackle a train but we decide to walk since so he enjoys better the scenery.

The first part is a little of increase but then it is completely flat, we happen for a placed canister bridge justly next to the bridge where the train happens, undoubtedly this one needed maintenance but another good option is to happen for the bridge of the train with a lot of care.

In the evening we come to Hot waters, a slightly untidy people and where there was of everything and it was here where we spend the night before our visit so longed to Machu Picchu.

On the following morning after one night of not c have slept well for the anxiety of finally Machu Picchu to know we enlist since we had to go out early, for our luck in the Hostel they were serving the early breakfast and we could stock up with fruits and some snacks on the market that is close to the buses station. The buses set off from much early but we decide to walk along a way that crosses the highway of the buses.

1 hour and a half took us more or less in coming after seeing several buses spending with the persons that if they could pay what we not. After a walk in ascent we come at the edge of revenue and control where as it had foreseen the meeting with our guide.

To 06:30 am we enter to the citadel and our first stop was the House of the Guard from which the famous postcard photo is obtained. With alone to have obtained this photo we were already super contentments and the trip continued towards the same citadel where we could visit places as the Intiwatana, the house of the priests, the temple of the Sun and of the Condor quite very well explained by our guide.

Then we had a free time to cover the area for our account and made use of it to take a heap of photos for our trips album. We decide to lower in bus up to the people why we were dying of famine and because there it arrives everything was super expensively.
Finally we go to the train station to tackle our comeback train to Cusco which was already included inside the bundle and after 2 hours sleeping in the train of the tired thing that we were we come to Ollantaytambo where a bus was waiting for us to return Cusco. We come to Cusco after another 2 hours and they made us super close to our Hostel.

And this way it was as we could not cover the Inca Way but we could know Machu Picchu for the only route and that if one day we return we would take again, skylight after covering the way of the Inca.
