ATV Quadbiking in the Sacred Valley of the Incas
Renting some quad bikes or ATVs marries the beautiful landscape of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and the excitement of off-roading. During the ride, you’ll enjoy expansive views of the tiny green fields which each family relies on for sustenance, picturesque communities with adobe mud-brick homes and colorfully dressed locals, small springs and Puyoc Lake, and the Andean mountains surrounding the valley. At some points, we’ll even be able to look over the city of Cusco.
The exciting terrain of winding dirt paths and frequent hills allows the bravest to jump their bikes in the air. You’ll have the space and time to exceed 4th gear.
The trip begins begins in Cusco’s San Sebastián district, from where we’ll speed through Tticapata Canyon, passing the humble Pumamarka and Yuncaypata communities. You can choose between excursions offering more technical off-roading or more scenic rides, and between half- or full-day excursions.
We’ll take time to explore the Pumamarka ruins, which are free to visit and include stepped agricultural terraces and an Incan palace. The site is often overlooked, so many visitors find that they are the only ones there at the time. Afterwards, you can visit a motorcross circuit with exciting slopes, overlooking the city of Cusco.
Most excursions include a box lunch, but if you prefer, you can ask about stopping for lunch in Saylla, a little town known for its fried pork chicharron, or Tipón, a little town known for its roast guinea pig. Safety equipment is provided, but you should bring a water bottle, snacks, and a bandana to cover your nose and mouth during dusty parts.
