Since its first edition nine years ago, Mistura has become one of the most anticipated annual events in Lima and one of the world’s leading food fairs. Peru’s elite restaurants man kiosks alongside humble huariques, picanterias, and caretillo street food vendors from each of the country’s diverse regions, and all at affordable prices. 180 restaurants will be participating this year, and 450,000 people are expected to attend.

Each year during the final days of October and the first week of November, the small, dusty city of Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca celebrates its founding anniversary. As can be expected for a city known as Peru’s ‘Capital of Folklore’, the event is a riot of color and activity. During the two weeks of celebrations, lucky visitors can watch fireworks shows and concerts and attend food and handicraft fairs.
Tickets are already on sale for one of Lima’s biggest events of the year: the Mistura Food Festival. Each year at Mistura, foodies from around the world gather for good times and good food, sampling the best that the Peruvian Amazon, the Creole desert coast, and the Andes have to offer. Mistural 2015 is the 8th edition, and will take place from September 4th through September 13th. Once again, the fair will take place on the Costa Verde in Magdalena.
This August, Arequipa will celebrate its 475th founding anniversary with a month-long series of festivities. The activities already began this last week with a literary contest known as “A Story for Arequipa”, and will conclude on August 30th with a food fair, arts & crafts show, and talent show. The wide-ranging program includes concerts, parades, talks, theatrical works, sports competitions, festivals, and more.
