Paragliding off the Green Cliffs of Miraflores in Lima, Peru

Paragliding along the Malecon Verde of Miraflores, LimaThe most popular neighborhood in Lima for travelers is undoubtedly seaside Miraflores, which is considered the greenest part of Lima thanks to its many parks and gardens. It boasts pre-Incan ruins, some of the city’s best cevichería restaurants, and the city’s liveliest nightlife. Many travelers enjoy simply walking along the scenic Malecón Verde, as the winding along the green cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean is known, stopping at the various small parks. You can take advantage of the enviable boardwalk views in a more active way, however, by opting for a quick but thrilling paragliding ride.

You’ll find the takeoff and landing site right by Love Park, near Larcomar, the ritzy shopping center and food court built into the cliffside. Just short of a hundred feet over the beach, the takeoff from the cliff’s grassy circle known as the ‘paraport’ provides a lively flight with little turbulence. Occasionally, the thermals can raise the maximum flight height, normally 220m, to more than double that amount, although you’ll enjoy some great scenery either way.

The flight will take you close to the tall modern 6057768196_dc978a2a9f_bbuildings of Miraflores, along the LarcoMar food court, and over the beach and Pacific ocean.

Although you can also arrange to take a one-day class, or more, in order to learn how to solo paraglide, you don’t need experience, or more than half an hour free, to take a quick tandem flight. In tandem flights, you fly alongside an experienced rider on a paraglider designed for two people.
