Lima’s Music Scene: 2 Weeks Until the Lima Vive Rock Festival
The most awaited event in Peru’s national rock scene, the Lima Vive Rock music festival, will take place in the capital in just two weeks. Last year’s event attracted thousands, and this year’s should be equally popular. With over twelve hours of music, a food fair, and more, it’s a great way to learn about the Peruvian music scene and culture.
The main show will begin on September 6th at 10am, at Lima’s Parque de la Exposición. Eighteen bands will take part:
Héroe Inocente, Comité PoKoflo, Los Mortero, Desarme, Amén, Gomas, Adictos al bidet, Laguna Pai, Mauser, Suda, Dmente Común, Vaselina, Narcosis, Uchpa, Frágil, Mar de Copas, Los Bacantes, and Shetevus.
Uchpu is one of the country’s only rock bands presenting songs in the Quechua language. Los Bacantes won the Lima Rockea competition in 2014, while Shetev won the Emerging Bands competition.
There will be talks, a percussion workshop (where the Peruvian cajón will likely be a draw) from 10-11am, a drumming workshop from 11am-12pm, and a graphic exhibition titled “The Corner is the Same: A Look at Underground Rock”. Rock-inspired designs and discs will be on offer as well.
There’s free “parking” storage available for those who arrive by bike, which are easily rented in Miraflores. Officials will begin accepting bikes from 10am and store them until midnight.
