Enjoy Lima’s Nightlife!
Centered around Miraflores, San Isidro, and Barranco, Lima’s nightlife offers everything from electronica to cumbia. As long as you observe some basic safety rules (calling for registered taxis rather than taking one off the street, and keeping an eye on your drinks), you can have the time of your life at clubs and bars that range from lounge-y to raucous. Here are some great choices for different types of scenes:
Etnias Bar Cultural in Lima’s city center offers ethnic art and live shows, as well as the standard DJs. It’s as good place to meet local artists and indulge in a cheerful Rasta vibe at prices that are more economical than the Miraflores ‘it’ discos.
Tequila Rock in Miraflores is one of the city’s most popular hotspots for locals and travelers alike, in part because it’s the only dance club in Lima club that opens each day of the week, from 6pm to 9am. A caveat for those looking for love- a lot of sex workers hit this club, as do peperas, women who roofie men so that others can rob them, and bricheras, women who pretend to be interested in foreigners to earn gifts.
The Aura danced club attracts a ritzier clientele of affluent Miraflores youth, many of whom actually purchase memberships. The music varies from contemporary pop to rock and techno, with some Latin numbers occasionally thrown in. You won’t find any good deals on drinks, but you will enjoy a trendier ambience and a stunning view of Lima Bay from the terrace. It’s located in the posh Larcomar shopping mall, built into the district’s seaside cliffs.
If you’re interested in a more chill experience in Miraflores, Laidback Huaringas Bar specializes in pisco-based cocktails, has several different cozy spaces for socializing.
One downtown standard that no one should overlook is Downtown Vale Todo, which has been on the scene long enough to become the iconic spot on gay/lesbian nightlife scene. It’s known for its drag queen shows, which tend to start around 2am.
If you’re new to Lima, the easist way to find good locales for a pub crawl or a night out dancing is to make your way to the heart of Lima, Parque Kennedy in Óvalo Miraflores. A number of worthy locales are gathered around here, and even the Calle de las Pizzas street is lively at this time.
Pirwa Inclan B&B is not only located just a few blocks from Parque Kennedy, our staff is just the sort of friendly and knowledgeable team that can help you with up-to-date recommendations for a city where hotspots can rise and fall in a matter of weeks. Sometimes, they’ll even lead you out themselves to show you the sights. We hope you’ll come visit us!
